NexPlayer, the market-leading Player SDK for premium video apps, now powers Jeopardy!® PlayShow on Nintendo Switch™.

With over 20 million viewers per week (Source: Nielsen NPower, 2020/21 (9/14/20-7/4/21), Jeopardy! is the top-rated quiz show on television. Jeopardy! PlayShow allows fans to play along with the TV show on their gaming consoles.

Game developer WayForward Technologies partnered with NexPlayer, which recently released a new streaming video player for the Nintendo Switch™ to develop the Jeopardy! PlayShow game.

This streaming video player gives OTT companies the opportunity to expand their device coverage into Nintendo’s most popular gaming console, being the only streaming Player SDK available for the device. NexPlayer for Nintendo Switch™ allows Live and VoD video content in DASH and HLS streaming formats inside any Nintendo Switch™ application.

In Jeopardy! PlayShow, NexPlayer enables the most advanced interactivity with the highest quality, synchronizing audio, video, and user actions, one of the most challenging of tasks.

NexPlayer CEO, Carlos Lucas said: “We are excited to help make Jeopardy! PlayShow available to Nintendo Switch™ users. We believe in the convergence between video streaming and gaming industries, and this advanced project will open the door to new interactive use cases.”

WayForward CEO, Voldi Way said: “We searched far and wide for a video streaming player that would allow us to develop Jeopardy! Playshow for the Switch, and at the end of the day, only NexPlayer was robust enough to meet our quality standards.”
