NexPlayer and Videon's
Ultra Low Latency Streaming
Brought to you by
NexPlayer understands that users demand live content immediately. Unlike linear TV (traditional broadcasting) which normally has a latency of between 3 and 5 seconds, OTT streams’ latency generally falls between 30 seconds and a minute. This is simply unacceptable. NexPlayer is able to provide ultra low latency with sub 3-seconds latency across all OTT devices.
With NexPlayer’s proprietary low latency technology, we are able to provide you with ultra low latency using both HLS & DASH streaming,
no matter the device, so that your users can experience sports, news, e-commerce, lectures and more, live.
Why choose NexPlayer for Streaming Video?
Stream High Quality Content in Both HLS & DASH
In collaboration with AWS Elemental and Videon, NexPlayer is able to produce sub 3-seconds ultra low latency in both HLS & DASH streams with universal Widevine DRM. This is done by using CMAF Low Latency Chunks (LLC) and optimizing the player at a local level by managing buffering and chunk sizes using NexPlayer’s proprietary streaming algorithm.
As much as 50% of the latency occurs at the local player level. By optimizing the local player, NexPlayer’s ultra low latency algorithm is able to significantly reduce latencies and provide stable and high quality video content.
Automatically Adjust Video Quality
Unlike outdated technologies such as RTP, RTSP, and WebRTC which are unsuitable for mobile delivery since they do not support adaptive bitrate streaming (ABR), NexPlayer uses its very own proprietary ABR technology to automatically adjust the resolution, based on users’ network conditions and the available bandwidth. This ensures minimal buffering and rapid start times, regardless of the network connection strength, and is supported by open standards to deliver content to viewers immediately.
All Devices Supported
NexPlayer provides ultra low latency support to all devices. This includes all Android and iOS devices and versions, all Samsung Tizen Smart TV models, LG webOS TV models, Android STBs, and HTML5 browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Safari, and Opera).
Highly Advanced Feature Set
Implement ultra low latency across all devices with a highly advanced feature set which includes Widevine DRM, ultra HD resolutions (4K & 8K), full subtitle support (CEA-608/708, TTML, SMPTE-TT, SRT, and WebVTT), 360 video and virtual reality (VR), ultra low latency, ABR, and 24/7 personalized support.

Which player technology should you be using for ULL?
If like many broadcasters you’re using AWS MediaStore/CloudFront to create your high-quality media workloads, you might want to know more about the topic. In partnership with Videon, we have created two documents to help you address your live broadcast needs.
